Everyone talks about Time Management, but what do they really mean? Everyone has 24 hours in a day, and there’s no way to change the length of a minute or hour in the day. So, how is Time Management possible?

For those who seem to be juggling a million activities and responsibilities, it can be overwhelming and exhausting. But what’s really going on? Does one person really need to accomplish more than can be done in one day for days on end?

It’s always a good idea to incorporate some of the more popular time management techniques. There are many books and courses to follow. It is important to figure out what’s most important to you and to focus on those goals. Maybe you can eliminate some activities and delegate tasks off of your plate, but what happens when you still feel overwhelmed?

Many times, the real issue is a deeper one and is merely stealing the mind’s attention. Get to the heart of what is really going on with a person, and you will often find that some underlying problem is causing worry and distraction that leads to lack of focus. Clear up this issue, and everything else seems to fall into place and get done. If someone feels passion about all of the goals she wants to accomplish and there are no self-limiting beliefs in the way, then she will find a way to do all of the important things with joy.

Have you ever seen a 11-year-old child who goes to the amusement park? He’s got one day and a certain amount of hours to ride every ride, eat every treat, play every game, etc. Even if there is a long line at his favorite roller coaster, he will find a way to go on every ride, sometimes more than once, before it’s time to go home. He is very efficient and moves through the park with speed and intention. He doesn’t wander around getting distracted or let worry slow him down. He may be tired at the end of the day, but he enjoyed every minute of it.

Do you have that same passion for all of your goals? If not, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate them or to uncover the beliefs you have that are getting in the way of achieving your dreams.

I was listening to a breathing meditation this morning by Kim Eng from “Meditation for a New Earth.” As she was guiding me to become conscious of my breath, she was also getting me to be aware of the gaps between my breaths. It was then that I realize that our bodies are making the subconscious decision in that “gap” to breathe again. Then I wondered, what other subconscious decisions is my mind or body making. Once I can become aware of some subconscious decisions I am making, then I have the power to change those decisions. Of course, I think I’ll let the breathing continue, but there may be some other things I’d like to become aware of and change.
